Columbia man robbed at gunpoint in front of his home

Police are investigating after a Columbia man was robbed of thousands of dollars in cash and money orders in front of his home Friday night.

The incident happened shortly after 10 p.m. on the 4200 block of Conners Street, not far from Farrow Road, according to the Columbia Police Department incident report.

The 56-year-old victim told police he was sitting in his vehicle in front of his residence when an unknown man threatened him with a green handgun. The man went through the victim’s pockets and took $4,000 in cash and three $1,000 money orders, according to the incident report.

As the man left the scene, he fired several shots in the air, the report says. Investigators were able to recover shell casings.
