South Carolina police agency invites accreditation comments

South Carolina’s top police agency is offering the public an opportunity to weigh in as part of its accreditation process.

The State Law Enforcement Division is holding a public information session on Tuesday at 5 p.m. at the South Carolina Sheriff’s Association in Columbia.

People are invited to say what they think about SLED as part of the agency’s renewal with the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies.

SLED was first accredited by the group in 1994 and comes up for renewal every three years.

Anyone who can’t attend the session can call 888-834-8097 on Tuesday between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
