Columbia police named a suspect they believe was involved in a Wednesday shooting at a motel near Palmetto Health Richland Hospital.

Police announced they filed arrest warrants for Victor Anthony Robinson, 34, for attempted murder, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime and possession of a firearm by a person convicted of a violent crime, according to a news release from the Columbia Police Department.

Investigators believe he shot a male victim with a high-powered rifle multiple times at the Budget Inn Motel, 1601 Sunset Drive, around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The victim remains at the hospital with life-threatening injuries, the release stated.

Police are still investigating the exact motive for the shooting but believe it stemmed from a previous argument. They said the shooting was an isolated incident.

Police are also searching for Terrance Robert Boyd, 24, who they called a person of interest in the case because he may have important information about the incident.
