Juvenile shot, seriously injured at late-night pool party

A juvenile victim remains in a hospital with serious injuries after he was shot at a pool party Friday.

Deputies responded to a report of shots fired at St. Andrews Commons Apartments at 1200 St. Andrews Road just before 1:30 a.m.

Once they arrived on scene, they discovered a fight in progress at the pool area and multiple gunshots had been fired near the front of the complex, according to Lt. Curtis Wilson.

They learned a juvenile victim attending a party in the pool area had been shot in the upper body. Friends reportedly transported the victim to Palmetto Health Richland hospital, where he remains with serious injuries.

Deputies are not sure if the victim was the intended target, as multiple people were in the area at the time.

“We are trying to determine exactly who is responsible and what caused this incident,” Wilson said.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME SC or www.midlandscrimestoppers.com/. People who leave anonymous tips that lead to an arrest, as well as recovery of stolen property and drugs, can receive rewards up to $1,000.
