Police say man tried to steal from 91-year-old with stolen check
Authorities hope the public can help locate a county man accused of trying to steal $800 from an acquaintance with a stolen and forged check, Richland County sheriff Leon Lott said in a news release.
Kevin Ray, 28, allegedly stole a check from the 91-year-old victim’s checkbook and wrote his own name on it. He tried to cash it at the First Citizen’s Bank on Parklane Road in Dentsville, Lott said.
Ray is described as a white male standing about 5 feet 8 inches tall. He has dark hair and facial hair and is of medium build.
If you know where Ray can be located, you are asked to call CrimeStoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC, text CRIMES (274637) and mark the beginning of the message with “TIPSC” followed by the tip information, or log onto www.midlandscrimestoppers.com and click on the red “Submit a tip” tab.
