Man grabbed 2-year-old’s face and hit him repeatedly, police say

Columbia police have arrested a man who they say grabbed the face of a 2-year-old and hit him repeatedly.

Joshua Mikell Stevens, 22, has been charged with unlawful conduct toward a child, according to the Columbia Police Department.

The incident happened on June 6 while the boy was in Stevens’ care at a home on the 300 block of Bailey Street, police say.

The child suffered two black eyes and other injuries to his body. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment and was released.

Stevens was taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
