Traffic stop yields drug arrest in Sumter County
A routine traffic stop turned into a drug arrest on Sunday for the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
Daniel Browder, 52, was charged with trafficking meth, 10 grams or more, said public information officer Ken Bell.
Browder was arrested for possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia, according to Bell, who said Browder was pulled over on Starks Ferry Road at approximately 9 p.m. for driving a pickup truck with an expired license plate.
Browder didn’t have a vehicle registration nor insurance information, and when a K-9 unit arrived on the scene it indicated there were drugs inside the vehicle, Bell said.
A search revealed two bags that each had a white rock substance inside, two glass pipes, three black scales and coins, said Bell, adding when Browder was placed under arrest, he had $1,554 on him.
Browder’s being held in the Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing, Bell said.
