Driver involved in COMET bus crash succumbs to injuries

A driver involved in a crash with a COMET bus earlier this month has died from his injuries, officials reported.

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts said George Arthur Stoudenmire, 52, of Cedar Terrace in Columbia was driving a vehicle when it struck a COMET bus around 12:30 p.m. June 10.

The wreck occurred at the intersection of Rosewood and Gills Creek Parkway.

Watts said Stoudenmire was transported by Richland County EMS to Palmetto Health Richland hospital where he died Tuesday at 10:11 a.m.

Stouenmire was reportedly not wearing a seat belt when the wreck occurred.

The Columbia Police Department continues to investigate this wreck.
