1 person shot during car chase that ended in crash

A chase between two cars early Saturday morning resulted in one car crashing into a house and one person in the hospital with gunshot wounds.

Richland County Sheriff’s deputies say two cars were chasing each other around 4 a.m. Saturday morning when one of them, a Mazda, crashed into a home on Folkstone Court.

No one was injured in the crash, deputies say.

But one person was taken to the hospital with a pair of gunshot wounds to the upper body, the result of shots being fired between the cars as they chased one another, deputies say.

That person’s injuries are not life-threatening, deputies say.

Deputies did not have any suspects in custody Saturday morning.
