Deputies: Cab driver attacked and robbed at gunpoint near Two Notch

A cab driver was attacked and robbed at gunpoint early Sunday morning, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.

The victim, driving for Checker Yellow Cab, was dispatched to the 300 block of Ferrell Road just off Two Notch Road, sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Curtis Wilson said. When he arrived, four men – including one with a shotgun – met him there, Wilson said.

While one man pointed the gun at the driver, another jumped into the vehicle and stole the victim’s wallet and cellphone, Wilson said.

A third man punched the victim in the upper body, Wilson said. The victim tried to leave but got stuck in a ditch.

At that point, the victims fled, Wilson said.

The incident happened just after 1 a.m. The sheriff’s department continues to investigate.
