Two men were taken into custody and charged with burglarizing a Properity home, taking 7 guns and discharging a shotgun in a nearby neighborhood.

The homeowner returned home Tuesday afternoon to find the front door kicked in and seven guns missing, Sheriff Lee Foster said in a news release.

As deputies investigated the break-in, a shots-fired call came in from a nearby neighborhood. Witnesses described a car seen when a shotgun was fired, peppering surrounding roofs with buckshot.

Physical evidence from both scenes pointed to the same culprits, Foster said.

A suspect vehicle was located a short time later, along with Charles Logan Higgins, III, 20 ,of Prosperity. A search of his camper uncovered the stolen guns, Foster said.

A second man, Travarris Maurice Green, 18, of Porsperity was arrested a short time later, Foster said.

Both men were charged with burglary and grand larceny and were being held at the Newberry County Detention Center.
