Increased weekend patrols and traffic check points in Columbia
The Columbia Police announced plans to operate more patrols and safety check points in North Columbia this weekend.
Starting Friday night, several police divisions including the traffic safety unit, community response team and K-9 unit will increase visibility in the area because of “citizen concerns, traffic violations and collisions,” police chief Skip Holbrook said in a news release.
All vehicles entering a check point will be stopped, police said.
Officers will be checking for a valid driver’s license, proper seatbelt and child restraint use as well as impaired driving.
