2-year-old tests positive for methamphetamine, woman charged
A 27-year-old Columbia woman was charged with cruelty to children after a 2-year-old in her care tested positive for narcotics, Columbia police chief Skip Holbrook said in a news release.
The child allegedly was present on August 23 when others were using illegal drugs at a home on South Marion Street.
Kelsey Jo Catania was arrested and charged on Thursday after a relative took the boy to a hospital for treatment and tests came back positive for methamphetamine.
The child is in the custody of relatives, Holbrook said. Catania was being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center Friday night.
