USC plans collection drive to help Hurricane Matthew victims
The University of South Carolina plans to send a truckload of supplies to Marion County residents reeling from historic flooding caused by Hurricane Matthew.
The school will collect bottled water, cleaning supplies, non-perishable food and diapers Thursday and Friday, then send a truck to Marion County at 11 a.m. Monday.
USC is collecting supplies from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at its alumni center at 900 Senate St. and from noon to 6 p.m. at the Gamecock Bi-Lo at 4464 Devine St.
The school said the collection will be the first of several efforts to help communities hit hard by Hurricane Matthew.
