This Lexington principal is in the running for national recognition
A Lexington principal is in the running for a national award, according to a statement from the National Association of Secondary School Principals.
Lucas Clamp, the principal of River Bluff High School, is a finalist for the group’s Principal of the Year award, according to the statement.
Clamp going head to head with principals from Illinois and Montana for the award, which will be handed out in October.
The Lexington principal was chosen as South Carolina’s Secondary Principal of the Year for 2018, according to River Bluff’s website.
The National Association of Secondary School Principals sited rising test scored and graduation rates as a reason for Clamp making the list, according to the statement. They also said he is committed to “closing the achievement gap with African American students.”
As a finalist, Clamp will have the chance to attend the 2018 NASSP Principals Institute, which includes a series of professional development sessions and meetings with congressmen.
