Four Richland 2 schools offering free breakfast and lunch to students this year
Students at four Richland County elementary schools will get free breakfast and lunch during the school year, according to a statement from Richland School District 2.
Jackson Creek, Joseph Keels, L.W. Conder Arts Integrated Magnet and Windsor elementaries will offer the free meals as part of a federal free and reduced meal program, Richland 2 spokeswoman Ishmael Abdus-Saboor said.
Families wishing for their students to receive the free meals don’t have to fill out an application, according to the statement. If parents want to opt their kids out of the program, they can contact school officials.
This is the first year Jackson Creek Elementary has participated in the Community Eligibility Provision program, according to the statement. Joseph Keels, L.W. Conder and Windsor are entering their second year of participation.
Parents of children attending other schools can still apply for free or reduced meal prices online. Students who received free or reduced lunches during the last school year will continue to receive them until October if their parents have not yet filled out an application.
