Three principals in SC Midlands named best in the state. Three more were finalists
Principals at three South Carolina Midlands schools have been awarded for being the best in the state.
Robin Coletrain, principal at W.A. Perry Middle School, was named Middle Level Principal of the Year. Sonya Bryant of Batesburg-Leesville High School was named Secondary Principal of the Year. And Twanisha Garner of Langford Elementary School was named Assistant Principal of the Year, according to a press release.
The rankings are a win for Richland County school districts. Both Richland 1 and Richland 2 had a principal who was named the best of the year.
“Dr. Coletrain is a great example of a school leader who inspires staff, students and parents to do their best at all times,” Richland 1 Superintendent Craig Witherspoon said in a press release. “She also works tirelessly to engage community partners to support the school’s mission of improving student outcomes.”
Richland 2 also celebrated its principal of the year winner, Twanisha Garner.
“Dr. Garner is a dedicated educator who motivates all members of the school family to cultivate an instructional environment that is focused on continuous improvement and high academic achievement for all students,” Richland 2 Superintendent Baron Davis said in the release.
The S.C. Association of School Administrators names the best principals of the year annually based on a “veteran panel of judges,” according to a release from the organization.
Other Midlands principals were finalists for principal of the year or assistant principal of the year, according to the release.
