Richland 2 sets tentative graduation date at Colonial Life Arena

Richland 2 school district has set a tentative, last-resort graduation date for its seniors.

Provided the coronavirus does not continue to grow in South Carolina, graduation for Richland 2 seniors will be held Aug. 5 and 6 at Colonial Life Arena, Superintendent Baron Davis said at a Tuesday school board meeting.

District spokeswoman Libby Roof described the Colonial Life Arena dates as a “backup” plan in case the district is unable to hold graduation earlier.

Davis is trying to hold graduation earlier, in July if possible, but that depends on coronavirus, he said.

Richland 2 includes Spring Valley, Richland Northeast, Blythewood, Ridge View and Westwood high schools.

Colonial Life Arena had postponed graduations until at least Aug. 1, according to a previous article from The State.
