Two Richland 2 high schools were evacuated Wednesday due to threats, the district reported. Richland Northeast and Spring Valley high schools were evacuated around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday “due to a threat” the district posted on Twitter.

No further details were provided. Student journalists involved with Richland Northeast’s The Saber, began tweeting about an evacuation around 3:30 Wednesday.

“The district has sent out the following message to parents. As a precaution, Richland Northeast High School has been evacuated due to a threat. Please stay clear of the area. As a precaution, Spring Valley High School is also on a secure response precaution due to a threat,” one of the Tweets from The Saber’s account reads.

Richland Two published the same message on its Twitter account.

A Richland 2 spokesperson could not provide any further information about the kind of threat received Wednesday or the means by which it was made.

This is the second day in a row Spring Valley has been evacuated due to a threat.

On Tuesday, Spring Valley students were evacuated after staff received an email from a student account that was “threatening in nature” Richland 2 spokesperson Carmen Rhone said. Both law enforcement and Richland 2 security said they did not believe the threat was credible.
