The Daily Gamecock cutting print production in half
The University of South Carolina’s student newspaper announced this morning it will cut the amount of days it prints in half.
A letter from the staff on The Daily Gamecock’s website stated it will print twice a week, down from four days, starting this fall. The newspaper currently prints Monday through Thursday, though the letter did not state which days it will publish when it enacts the change.
The staff, which typically works late nights for half of the week to meet print deadlines, will move to daytime production closer to a 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. work day.
The letter stated more than 60 percent of its readership is digital, and having a primarily online platform will allow its staff to produce more content, including multimedia projects, seven days a week.
“Come what may, we’ll still be doin’ it daily,” the letter stated.
