An unofficial student group at Clemson University has rankled some by inviting alt-right conservative provocateur and Breitbart.com tech editor Milo Yiannopoulos to speak at the school during an event called “Make Clemson Great Again.”

A group of Clemson students called WeRoar Clemson announced Yiannopoulos will speak at Tillman Hall auditorium on Oct. 18. the Greenville News reported.

Yiannopoulos is an outspoken critic of political correctness, feminism, Islam and the progressive left. He was recently banned from Twitter after actress Leslie Jones, who’s black, faced a barrage of racist and obscene posts.

WeRoar Clemson member Zach Talley says the event will be a private, ticketed event.

It comes in the wake of a nine-day sit-in at Clemson’s administrative offices last semester over a lack of diversity on campus.

Talley says the event isn’t a response to the sit-in, but over what he called a “growing trend” of banning speech.
