Forecast: Hurricanes to hold off in 2015

Hurricane forecasters at Coastal Carolina University said in a news release Monday that it is most likely that no hurricanes will hit either the East or Gulf coasts between June 1 and Nov. 30 this year.

Second most likely is that one hurricane will make landfall along either the East or Gulf coast and the third most likely scenario is that one will strike each coast.

The outlook, called Hurricane Genesis & Outlook Project, predicts seven to 10 named tropical storms, three to six hurricanes and two major hurricanes.

The outlook may be updated as more observational climate data becomes available.
