Businesses target veterans at Fort Jackson job fair
Fort Jackson will host a job fair on June 16 sponsored by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the fort’s Solomon Center.
The Hiring Our Heroes Job Fair is aimed at assisting active duty, Reserve and National Guard service members, as well as retirees, veterans, Department of Defense civilians and their families.
Job providers include private, public, contracting and nonprofit organizations, a spokeswoman said. There are 85 employers and 15 service providers schedule to attend.
Employers were invited to the free event only if they had immediate job openings, she said.
People interested in attending can upload their resume so that potential employers can review them prior to the event. Register online at www.hoh.greatjob.net/sc.
A workshop on resume writing, tips for successfully navigating hiring fairs, military skill translation and interviewing will start at 8:30 a.m.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce launched its Hiring our Heroes program in early 2011, in a nationwide effort to help veterans and their spouses find employment.
