Fort Jackson holding community tour

The public is invited to an up-close tour of the nation’s largest training base later this month.

The seven-hour “Come See Your Army” tour at Fort Jackson will give visitors an opportunity to see how soldiers train and provide insight into the day-to-day operations of the post. During the tour, visitors will attend a basic combat training graduation, learn to shoot the M16A2 assault rifle simulator and eat in an Army dining facility among other activities.

The Feb. 19 tour is open to people ages 13 and older. Reservations are required by Feb. 12.

The tour begins at 7:30 a.m. Lunch costs $5.55.
