“Is this a fake ticket?” she asked her husband. “No,” he replied, assuring her it wasn’t, according to a news release from the South Carolina Education Lottery. .

The husband had stopped by the A Plus Convenience store at 9910 Dorchester Road in Summerville and picked up a few $2 Lucky No. 7 Doubler tickets for he and his wife to scratch off, according to the news release.

When he got home, the couple split up the tickets and started scratching. After they realized how much they’d won, the couple decided to split the winnings down the middle.

“I think my wife’s already spent more than I have,” the husband said. “I’m frugal, I only buy $2 lottery tickets.”

The A Plus where he purchased the winning ticket got a commission of $300, according to lottery officials.

The odds of winning the Lucky No. 7 Doubler game is 1 in 528,000, according to the South Carolina Education Lottery.
