Check your pockets. A six-digit winning lottery ticket was sold in South Carolina
A $300,000 winning lottery ticket was sold in Columbia, according to the South Carolina Education Lottery.
Now the search is on for the person who bought the Palmetto Cash 5 game at a gas station/convenience story, lottery officials said Wednesday in a news release.
The winning numbers — 2, 4, 13, 16, 21, and Power-Up: 3 — were drawn Tuesday.
The winning ticket was sold at Circle K at 7919 Parklane Road. That’s near S.C. 277, in the area between Interstate 77 and Interstate 20.
The ticket buyer bought the Powered-Up option for $1, which tripled the prize to $300,000, according to the release.
The winner has 180 days to claim the prize, according to lottery officials.
The winner will be allowed to retain some privacy, as South Carolina is one of eight states — along with Delaware, Kansas, Georgia, Maryland, North Dakota, Ohio and Texas — that allow lottery winners to remain anonymous.
The odds of winning $300,000 playing Palmetto Cash 5 are 1,405,438-to-1, according to the release.
“Sign the back of your ticket and put it in a safe location until you’re ready to come forward to claim the prize,” lottery officials said.
Circle K will receive a commission of $3,000 for selling the winning ticket when it is turned into lottery officials.
In addition to the six-figure jackpot, lottery officials said more than 5,200 ticket holders will win prizes — ranging from $1 to $300,000 — following the Palmetto Cash 5 drawing.
