SC woman ‘dreaming of ways to spend’ lottery jackpot after winning six-figure prize

A Midlands woman said she’s “dreaming of ways to spend” the six-figure jackpot she won on a lottery game last month.

The woman won a $300,000 top prize in the Ultimate Riches scratch-off game, South Carolina Education Lottery officials said Tuesday in a news release.

She bought the winning ticket for $10 at the Circle K on 1019 S. Lake Dr. in Lexington, according to the release. The convenience store/gas station is right off Exit 55 from Interstate 20.

The woman’s name has not been released because South Carolina is one of eight states — along with Delaware, Georgia, Kansas, Maryland, North Dakota, Ohio and Texas — that allow lottery winners to remain anonymous.

The winner didn’t say what she plans to do with the newfound windfall, but revealed that in the month since scratching out the winning numbers she hasn’t spent a cent of her prize, according to the release.

“I’m still in shock,” she said in the release.

Other than dreaming of ways to spend the jackpot, the woman said she’s otherwise been living a normal life, according to lottery officials. She didn’t say what her dreams included.

The odds of winning the top prize in the $10 Ultimate Riches game are one-in-900,000, and three of the six top prizes in the scratch-off game remain unclaimed, according to the release.

The convenience store received a commission of $3,000 for selling the claimed winning ticket, according to the release.
