A Sumter man narrowly missed the jackpot but matched five out of six numbers in the South Carolina Powerball lottery, winning him $100,000.

The winner purchased his ticket at the Youngs #3606 store at 3120 U.S. Highway 15 South for the drawing on May 6, lottery officials said in a Friday news release.

“I try to play every drawing,” the winner told lottery officials. “And I’m going to keep playing.”

The odds of matching four white ball numbers and the red Powerball number are 1 in 913,129.
