SC man doesn’t ‘feel like a millionaire’ after winning lottery grand prize, but he is now

A South Carolina man is having a hard time believing that he won a seven-figure jackpot on a scratch-off ticket, according to lottery officials.

“I still don’t feel like a millionaire,” the Aiken man said in a Thursday news release from the South Carolina Education Lottery.

But that’s what he is after hitting the $2 million grand prize on a Millionaire’s Club game, according to the release.

The man bought what turned out to be the winning ticket for $20 at the Circle K gas station/convenience store at 1014 E. Pine Log Road in Aiken, officials said.

The winner described how he stood next to his car and scratched the game, and couldn’t believe it when he saw how much he won, according to the release.

“I wasn’t expecting it,” he said.

The man didn’t waste any time, as he headed straight to the South Carolina Education Lottery Claims Center in Columbia to cash in the seven-figure prize, lottery officials said.

The man didn’t reveal his plans for spending his multi-million dollar windfall.

The winner will be allowed to retain some privacy, as South Carolina is one of 11 states — along with Arizona, Delaware, Georgia, Kansas, Maryland, New Jersey, North Dakota, Ohio, Texas and Virginia — that allow lottery winners to remain anonymous.

The odds of winning the $2,000,000 top prize in the Millionaire’s Club game were 1-in-1,260,000, according to the release. Three of the game’s eight top prize-winning tickets remain unclaimed, according to the lottery website.

The Circle K store received a commission of $20,000 for selling the claimed ticket, according to the release.
