Man in Midlands wins top prize on Gamecocks-themed scratch-off ticket
A $5 scratch-off ticket won a man in the Midlands $200,000.
The man, a University of South Carolina Gamecocks fan, purchased the Carolina Jackpot scratch-off ticket at a Young’s convenience store in Sumter county, according a news release from the South Carolina Education Lottery.
The Carolina Jackpot ticket is Gamecocks-themed and it caught the fan’s eye. He scratched the ticket outside the convenience store in Pinewood. He was unsure if the ticket was a winner, so he went back inside to scan it, according to the release. After he finished scratching, the fan realized he won the top prize.
“I’m happy,” the winner told officials after cashing in his ticket.
Players have a 1 in 520,000 chance at winning the top prize, according to the release. There are two $200,000 prizes left, as of Thursday morning.
