From pocket change to down payment: SC lottery winner to put prize toward home
A South Carolina lottery player who tested her luck after winning $2 on a scratch-off walked away with a sizable down payment on a new home.
The Midlands resident told South Carolina Education Lottery officials she decided to follow up her small win by purchasing a few more tickets. One of them netted her $30,000.
“It was awesome,” said the woman, who told lottery officials she slipped on her glasses to make sure she’d actually won a top prize.
The lucky winner said she’s saving the prize money for a house.
The Wilsons II convenience store in Little Mountain, where the $2 ticket was purchased, received a $300 commission for selling the claimed ticket.
As of Friday, three $30,000 top prizes remain in the 7-11-21 Tripler game, lottery officials said.
The odds of pulling a big winner are 1 in 600,000.
