This California restaurant takes your temperature at the door to fight coronavirus
A California restaurant is checking customers’ temperatures before serving them due to the coronavirus.
Sichuan Impression has been using infrared thermometers since January at its locations in Los Angeles, Tustin, and Alhambra in order to screen customers, the Los Angeles Times reported.
If a person has an “abnormal symptom,” including a fever, the restaurant will help contact local medical services, according to the restaurant’s Instagram post.
Those who don’t comply with the temperature check won’t be served, the restaurant said.
“We at Sichuan Impression respect and enjoy having our guests who come from all corners of the world,” the restaurant said on Instagram. “Offering you a healthy and safe dinning environment is also upheld as our top priority.”
The restaurant is encouraging people to get to-go orders and is offering a 5 percent discount, according to the post.
“It has been 6 years since Sichuan Impression opened, and to treat everyone who comes to dine equally has always been our basic principle,” the restaurant posted. “We are grateful for your cooperation during this extraordinary period.”
As of March 9, more than 111,000 people have been infected by coronavirus worldwide and nearly 3,900 people have died, according to Johns Hopkins University.
The majority of responses to the post have been positive. “I’m in absolute awe,” one Instagram user wrote. “Honestly I wish many employers were this forward thinking and focused on preventing large scale breakouts.”
Someone else wrote: “Guess I ain’t going to ur restaurant anymore.”
The restaurant also posted a video on Instagram of members of its staff wearing face masks. “Isolate the virus, Don’t isolate love! Be Strong China” the caption reads.
