Watch as Coast Guard rescues four from wrecked boat off Georgia coast, video shows

The U.S. Coast Guard rescued a group of four people from a boat wreck in St. Catherine’s Sound, off the Georgia coast, early Monday.

At 2:28 a.m., an emergency call came in — a sailing vessel had run aground and began taking on water, according to a Coast Guard release, and a team from Air Station Savannah flew to the site.

Video of the rescue shared by the Coast Guard shows the team plucking the stranded sailors out of the dark waters one by one and pulling them into the helicopter hovering overhead.

The rescue swimmer could only find three of the stranded four at first, according to the Coast Guard. After conducting a quick search of the immediate area, the crew found the fourth member floating less than a mile from the capsized boat.

With that, the stranded crew was flown toward dry land and medical attention.

“All four mariners were taken to Hunter Army Airfield and transferred to EMS for further medical care,” according to The Coast Guard.
