Michigan compound for sale has bunker with something that looks like ‘screaming room’
A property that could accommodate a small community in a post-apocalyptic world has strutted onto the real estate market in Battle Creek, Michigan for $6.5 million.
Prepare to be impressed with nearly every aspect of this compound — from the deluxe features in the main residence, to the numerous light reflecting lakes, to a ginormous bunker that would ease even Kimmy Schmidt’s mind.
Sitting on 323 acres, the property comes with a 14,000 square-foot multi-level home, 5,000 square-foot underground bunker, 7,200 square-foot outbuilding, three additional homes and five lakes, including one that covers 9 acres.
The five-bedroom, nine-bathroom main home was completed in 2018 after five years of construction and it’s easy to see why it took so long to finish considering some of the jaw-dropping features including:
A lower level walkout basement
Open floorplan
Jack and Jill suites
Two-story closet complete with its own full bath
Primary bedroom with his/her bathrooms
Spa area
Three saunas
Mirror work out room
Home theater
Now for that bunker.
“Beneath a 6” steel covering, the bunker has bedrooms and bathrooms to accommodate up to 20 people, and has two kitchens, a grow room, and a shooting range,” the listing on MichiganCountryEstate.com says. “The bunker is solar powered, and has an air purification system.”
It was the fancy bunker that caught the eye of the popular Facebook page Zillow Gone Wild, whose fans drew attention to the shooting range — some of whom claim the room looks like something else entirely.
“Soundproof murder hall?” one person asked in the comment section of the range photo.
“If you are a mom you need a room you can go to to scream and then come back and be that kind, nurturing parent!” another observed.
“If you ever have a kid who comes home with a recorder from school, you know how much this room is needed!” another joked.
“The screaming room,” one said.
“Looks like we found Dexter,” another joked.
“So you can practice for shooting zombies?” another asked.
“A padded room for the In-laws?” someone suggested.
The additional homes include a ranch-style guest house, a 1,409 square-foot lake cottage that is usually used as the caretaker’s home, a 1,344 square-foot stone house and a greenhouse/outbuilding.
