Jermaine McGeorge had some time to kill while his son was getting a haircut, and it paid off big time.

By the time his son hopped out of the barber’s chair, McGeorge had won a major jackpot in the Virginia Lottery.

McGeorge stopped by Clipper Food Mart/Valero on Williamson Road in Roanoke during his son’s appointment and bought a handful of lottery tickets, he told lottery officials.

One of the Fatter Wallet game scratchers won him the top prize of $150,000.

After his son’s haircut, the McGeorges rushed home and woke up the family to share the news, according to lottery officials.

McGeorge’s wife didn’t believe him at first, lottery officials said, but the reality of their win soon kicked in and the couple started to cry.

The odds of winning the top Fatter Wallet prize are 1 in 1,387,200, according to the Virginia Lottery.
