‘Just like on TV.’ Winning South Carolina lottery ticket sends woman screaming with joy
A woman won $200,000 in the South Carolina Education Lottery and compared the experience to something straight out of TV.
The woman bought a $5 lottery ticket at a Sunoco Quick Mart in Greenville, where a friendly clerk wished her good luck, according to a news release from the lottery.
When she went home, she scratched off the ticket and was stunned to see she had won $200,000, the release said. She quickly showed her mother, and the two women were “both screaming,” she said.
“It was just like on TV,” she said in the release, adding that she “couldn’t have scripted the moment any better.”
“It still feels like a dream,” she told lottery officials.
The Sunoco where she bought the ticket received a commission of $2,000 for selling the Payday Bonus Play ticket, the release said. Two more top prizes are still available in the game, and the odds of drawing them are 1 in 900,000.
