Second time was the charm for 57-year-old Chester Williams in the North Carolina lottery.

He won $230,073 in the first second-chance drawing in the Carolina Jackpot, according to lottery officials.

“Man, I almost had a heart attack,” Williams, who is a maintenance worker, told lottery officials. “My heart was pounding so hard.”

The Cary man’s entry was one of 9.5 million in the Carolina Jackpot second-chance drawing on Wednesday, June 22, lottery officials said.

“You better believe in second chances,” Williams told lottery officials.

Williams took home $163,375 after taxes, according to the N.C. Education Lottery.

He told lottery officials he plans to help out his family, get some car repairs done and take his wife on a beach vacation.

“This is going to help us out a whole lot,” he told lottery officials.

Cary is about 12 miles west of Raleigh.
