A man died and a woman was injured after falling down a waterfall in the California mountains, authorities said.

The pair fell about 20 feet from Big Falls in Forest Falls on Sunday, July 24, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release. The department did not specify how the two fell from the middle to lower falls.

When crews responded, the woman, a 43-year-old Riverside resident, was performing CPR on the man, a 43-year-old Hemet resident, officials said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to officials. The woman was taken by helicopter to nearby medical personne and was transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center.

In May, a 33-year-old man was found dead at the base of Big Falls after an 80-foot fall.
