When a judge ordered deputies to take a 30-year-old man into custody, he bolted from a courtroom at the Boulder jail and escaped, Colorado sheriff’s officials reported.

A Boulder County Sheriff’s Office news release did not say what charges the man faced in court, which is outside the secure part of the jail.

Deputies followed the man outside after his escape at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, but could not catch him, the release said.

A short time later, an onlooker reported seeing the man riding a bicycle, the release said. A deputy spotted him about 3 p.m. but also could not apprehend him.

He has several felony arrest warrants but is not believed to be a threat, sheriff’s officials said.

They ask anyone with information call 303-441-4444.
