Mom with ‘time to kill’ before Thanksgiving event plays Virginia lottery and wins big
A Virginia mom had some last-minute luck to be grateful for as she headed to meet her family for Thanksgiving.
Lisa Green, who lives in Chesapeake, had some “time to kill” before her family’s Thanksgiving gathering, so she decided to play her favorite lottery game, she told lottery officials in a Dec. 5 news release.
In about 20 minutes, Green won a $123,687 prize playing The Lamp on her phone, according to lottery officials.
“It happened so fast, I wasn’t sure!” she told lottery officials. “I told my daughter, and she said, ‘No way, that stuff’s not real!’”
Green works as a retail manager and didn’t have immediate plans for her winnings, she told lottery officials.
Chesapeake is about 7 miles south of Norfolk.
