Little League game stops as stray bullet plunges onto field, California video shows

A stray bullet hit the field during a Little League game in California, officials said.

At 8 p.m. on May 8, deputies in San Marco were dispatched after receiving reports of “someone discharging a firearm near” Mission Sports Park, according to a May 9 news release by the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

In the video, gun shots can be heard from a distance before a little boy goes up to bat during the game. Then a stray bullet hits the field between the first and second base.

Deputies and patrol helicopters searched the area and found the bullet on the field, according to NBC 7 San Diego.

Officials said no one was injured.

The sheriff’s department asks anyone with information to call 760-510-5200.

San Marcos is about 40 miles north of San Diego.
