Powerball jackpot surpasses half billion, nearing new record. When’s the next drawing?
CORRECTION: The Powerball estimated jackpot was incorrect in an earlier headline.
The story continues below.
The Powerball has grown to $546 million after months of no winners.
Now it nears a milestone.
During the last drawing on Monday, July 3, no one matched white balls 15, 26, 31, 38, 61 and red Powerball 3, lottery officials said in a news release.
The jackpot then grew from $522 million to $546 million. It has been building since April 19 when a player matched the winning numbers and landed the $252.6 million jackpot, lottery officials said.
Players will have a chance to win the massive jackpot during the Wednesday, July 5, drawing with a cash option of $282 million.
If no one wins again, this jackpot could reach the top 10 jackpots in history if it surpasses $590.5 million. A winner in Florida holds the No. 10 spot after winning the jackpot in 2013.
The highest Powerball jackpot on record is held by California winner, Edwin Castro, who won $2.04 billion in November.
