Big lottery win stuns pregnant woman in Maryland. ‘Thought I was going to have my baby’
Martika Savoy’s considers herself a casual lottery player, and recently, the pregnant mom decided last minute to play a scratch-off ticket for the first time in months.
“It was a spur of the moment decision,” Savoy told officials, according to a July 13 Maryland Lottery news release. “I said ‘why not play today.’”
The 31-year-old grocery store manager bought her Fast Play Winfall Doubler ticket at the Pisgah General in Charles County and started scratching, according to officials. When Savoy saw her prize, she was stunned.
“I thought I was going to have my baby on the floor,” Savoy said in the release.
Savoy, who is expecting her fourth child, said she’ll use her winnings towards a down payment on a house.
“Some of the money will go to my babies and my bills,” Savoy told officials.
Charles County is about 40 miles south of Washington, D.C.
