Retiree spends $10 on usual WA lottery ticket — but this time prize leaves her stunned
A retiree stopped at a convenience store in Washington and bought a $10 scratch ticket she typically plays.
But this time she won $50,000.
The woman from Kirkland bought some lottery games after a long day, Washington’s Lottery said in a Feb. 14 news release.
One of those games was a $10 Loteria Scratch ticket, which she’s played before, lottery officials said.
When she got home, she scratched the ticket and realized she won the game’s second-tier prize.
She was stunned and had to check the ticket a few times before believing her big win, lottery officials said.
Then she called her friend and said “you aren’t going to believe this.”
The lucky lottery player now has plans to use some of the money on a night out with her friend. She also plans to put some into savings.
Kirkland is about 10 miles northeast of Seattle.
