Husband reminds wife to check months-old Washington lottery ticket. She wins big
A woman bought a lottery game while grocery shopping in Washington, then she forgot about it for months.
When her husband reminded her to check the ticket, she realized she won $135,000.
The lucky lottery player, who is a master electrician from Lynnwood, said she bought a Hit 5 game from a Fred Meyer, Washington’s Lottery said in a Feb. 22 news release.
Then, she went home, forgetting about the ticket, the lottery office said.
Her husband reminded her about the lottery game months later, prompting her to scan it at a vending machine, officials said.
When she did, the words “See Lottery Regional Office” flashed on the screen, and her receipt said she won $135,000.
She went back home to tell her husband and son, and their “eyes grew wide when they saw what the ticket was worth,” she told lottery officials.
The lucky lottery player used her win to pay off her debt, according to officials.
Lynnwood is about 20 miles north of Seattle.
