Trader Joe’s shoppers soon can get their hands on the canvas mini tote bags again — but the coveted item won’t stick around.

The much-loved bags will be back in stock Wednesday, Sept. 18, after selling out in stores, a spokesperson for the supermarket chain told McClatchy News.

Made with a “heavy duty” cotton-polyester blend, the totes are a smaller version of Trader Joe’s classic canvas bags, according to its website. They’re “ideal for smaller shopping trips” to the neighborhood store, known for its private-label snacks and other products.

Each bag is $2.99, and customers have their pick of four colors:

  • Navy
  • Yellow
  • Red
  • Forest green

The mini totes sold out soon after they hit stores back in March and were so popular that Trader Joe’s had to put purchase limits on them, according to CNBC. Some people lucky enough to get one (or multiple) tried reselling them online for as much as $100.

“We thought we bought enough of these mini canvas totes to last for several weeks, maybe a whole month,” said Matt Sloan, host of the “Inside Trader Joe’s” podcast, according to EatThisNotThat.com.

“We had no inkling that they would be this exciting, this quickly, for so many customers,” Sloan added. “We had actually hundreds of thousands of bags come in and go out within a week.”

The next round of canvas mini tote bags will be available for a limited time, though Trader Joe’s didn’t say how long.
