A Florida man tested his luck and won a life-changing lottery prize.

Corbblin Dixon, 66, of Orlando, netted a $1 million jackpot playing the 500X THE CASH Scratch-Off game, the Florida Lottery said in an Oct. 17 news release.

He purchased the $50 ticket from the Publix on South Orange Avenue in Orlando.

Dixon claimed his winnings Thursday at the lottery’s Orlando District Office, choosing a lump-sum payment of $640,000, after taxes, the Florida Lottery said.

The lucky player beat odds of 1 in 274,004 to win the $1 million prize, according to the lottery’s website. Two top prizes worth $25 million are still up for grabs in the 500X THE CASH scratch-off game.

Dixon didn’t say how he plans to spend his winnings.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
