As a Maryland couple cashed in some winning lottery tickets at a liquor store, they decided to try their luck again.

The husband had his eye on a $10 Mega Bucks scratch-off ticket, Maryland Lottery officials said in a Jan. 23 news release.

“He thought ($10) wasn’t a bad price for a shot at $100,000,” the wife told lottery officials.

For safekeeping, the husband stashed the ticket away in his pocket.

Then, “life got busy,” the wife said in the release.

And, for three days, the ticket sat in the husband’s pocket.

“It took a few days for us to remember it,” the Charles County couple told lottery officials.

When the couple found the ticket, they scratched it together.

“When we saw the $100,000, we just looked at each other, didn’t say a word,” they told lottery officials.

For minutes, the couple studied the ticket “over and over.”

Then, they scanned it using the lottery app — “again, over and over,” lottery officials said.

“Even then, we almost couldn’t believe it,” the couple told lottery officials.

Soon enough, though, their win began to sink in, leaving the couple “jumping with joy and dancing in their living room.”

“I thought I was going to have a heart attack,” one of the winners told lottery officials.

Charles County is about a 70-mile drive southwest from Baltimore.
