Zookeepers welcomed a new yak and now the baby and mama are bonding, Alaska officials said.

On March 19, a Tibetan yak named Iris gave birth to what zookeepers believe is a girl, according to a March 20 Facebook post by the Alaska Zoo.

Iris arrived at the Anchorage zoo in 2024 with her companions, Rose and Bean, after being born in 2019, officials said.

Mama is with her baby and nursing is going well, officials said.

The two can be seen bonding in a March 22 video posted by the zoo’s Instagram account.

The mama can be seen licking her new baby and the two are “doing great,” the post said.

Viewers are already in love with the new duo, with one person saying, “That’s so cute.”

“So precious,” another person wrote.

“Such a good mama,” someone said.
