Powerball players just miss $147 million jackpot — but win big in Pennsylvania
Two Powerball players in Pennsylvania won $50,000 each, just missing the $147 million jackpot, lottery officials say.
The tickets matched four winning numbers and the Powerball in the drawing Wednesday, May 21, the Pennsylvania Lottery said.
The winning tickets were sold at a Giant food store in Harrisburg, about a 105-mile drive west from Philadelphia, and a Giant Eagle supermarket in North Huntingdon, about a 20-mile drive southeast of Pittsburgh, the lottery said.
Powerball players in Kansas, New Hampshire and Texas won $1 million prizes.
Nobody won the grand prize, which rises to an estimated $163 million, with a cash value of about $73.3 million, for the next drawing Saturday, May 24, the national Powerball site said.
The winning numbers were 9, 29, 31, 34 and 43, with a Powerball of 2, the site said. The Power Play multiplier was 2x.
More than 330,000 other Powerball tickets sold in the United States also won prizes ranging from $4 to $50,000, the lottery said.
The Powerball jackpot was last won April 26, when a Kentucky player hit the $167 million grand prize, lottery officials said.
